Creative Arts Therapy & IFS Therapy.

In-person in the Canberra region, or online from anywhere in the world.

The Making Space emphasises therapeutic art-making practices to help ‘make sense’ of our lives, and to ‘make space’ for what carries meaning. Arts-based therapy is suitable for adults and children of all ages - at home, online, or in the workplace or school. With the focus on the creative process and not the final product, Creative Arts Therapy is not about becoming a great artist but about creatively exploring meaning and connections in your life. Creative Arts Therapy, Eco-Art Therapy and IFS Therapy modalities can also be combined for a unique and individualised approach to healing.

    IFS Therapy

Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS Therapy) is a way to understand your own ‘inner-system’ (including the mind and your emotions) and assist in the process of transformation and healing. IFS Therapy emphasises self-compassion, mindfulness and acceptance. Sessions are guided by the client’s intuitive inner-system and are informed by the structure of the IFS model, creating a safe ‘holding space’ for stories to be witnessed with respect and compassionate presence.

  • Eco Art Therapy climate anxiety & grief

    Eco Art Therapy

Eco Art Therapy uses natural materials as a way of exploring and making sense of the various aspects in a client’s life. The emphasis is on ephemeral art pieces and mindful process. Eco Art Therapy can be an effective way to work alongside grief and loss, including climate grief. The aim of Eco Art Therapy is to develop connection between people and their environment in order to encourage positive mental health.

“I found I could say things with colours and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way.”

Georgia O’Keefe

Hi, I’m Sarah

My work engages a collaborative approach between therapist and client. My role is to journey alongside each individual, inviting their lived experience to guide the therapeutic process while highlighting their strengths as a way of identifying unique pathways for growth, healing, and creative exploration of what carries meaning.

I have a Masters Degree in Therapeutic Arts Practice from the MIECAT Institute in Melbourne (Creative Arts Therapy). I completed my training in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS Therapy) through the IFS Institute in 2018, and have been working as an IFS Therapy practitioner for the last 6 years. I have taught yoga, mindful movement, breath work and meditation for over 18 years.
